Glass Performance Days 2025

H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling presents the latest in energy-efficient solutions

With the Glass Performance Days (GPD), Finland has for over 30 years established itself as an important driver of technological and design innovations in the international glass industry. The trade conference now is one of the leading forums for international exchange along the entire value chain – from architecture and planning to glass production and processing to technology providers.

GPD as a forward-looking platform

Companies from a wide range of sectors use GPD as a platform to present new developments, maintain networks, and jointly develop solutions for current industry topics such as energy efficiency, sustainability, and digitalization.

H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling also uses this stage to contribute to the advancement of glazing technology with high-performance sealant and adhesive solutions. “The Glass Performance Days offer an ideal platform to present our forward-looking technologies to an international audience of experts and to intensify the exchange with experts,” says Christian Scherer, Head of Business Development Glass at H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling.

Glass Performance Days

Finland thus stands – particularly through the development of the GPD – as a symbol of a networked, knowledge-driven culture of innovation in the glass industry.

Sustainability meets performance

With technical presentations, workshops, exhibitions, and networking events, Glass Performance Days 2025 offers a wide-ranging program that highlights all facets of the glass industry—from architecture and construction to processing technologies, sustainability, and energy efficiency. Experts from around the world will share their latest insights and present innovations that are shaping the future of the industry.

A special highlight is the workshop “Latest technologies for manufacturing future-proof insulating glass units,” which H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling is offering in the afternoon of Tuesday, June 10, together with Glaston Corporation. This workshop will provide participants with in-depth insights into state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies for energy-efficient insulating glass units.

Ködispace 4SG: Gas-tight and durable

The Ködispace 4SG stays gas-tight during normal expansion and compression cycling of the unit. The stress is extended over the full spacer width and not concentrated only on the edges.

The focus will be on the Ködispace 4SG warm edge system – a high-performance, reactive system that has been specially developed for fully automated and precise insulating glass production. Ködispace 4SG sets new standards in durability, aesthetics, and process efficiency for the key requirements of modern construction: sustainability and energy efficiency.

Thanks to its outstanding gas tightness and durability, the system makes a significant contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and improving the energy performance of buildings.

The workshop will also demonstrate how the technology reduces failure rates in IGUs and improves long-term system reliability. Thanks to its reactive chemical structure, the butyl-based formulation of Ködispace 4SG forms a permanent bond with the glass and the silicone secondary seal.

In combination with precise, robot-assisted application, this results in a highly stable yet flexible edge seal that reliably ensures long-term gas tightness and mechanical resilience.

Sustainable markets and modern facade design

H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling places particular emphasis on the diverse application possibilities of Ködispace 4SG in forward-looking architectural concepts – such as in particularly slim triple insulating glass units that combine efficient use of space with excellent thermal insulation.

Thanks to a verified environmental product declaration (EPD), Ködispace 4SG provides the necessary transparency for life cycle analyses and actively supports planners and building owners in implementing green building standards and integrating them into CO₂ balance sheets – a significant advantage for sustainable and resource-saving facade design.

One day before the Glass Performance Days, on June 9, 2025, Christian Scherer will also be a guest speaker at the Nordic Facade Forum in Helsinki. This event is dedicated to the latest trends and developments in facade technology, with a special focus on the challenges of climate change and innovative solutions for Nordic climate conditions. His presentation will provide insights into how state-of-the-art spacer technologies are shaping the future of energy-efficient and design-oriented facades.

Ködispace 4SG is ideal for future-oriented facade projects: The reactive TPS system was developed specifically for structural glazing applications and demanding facade designs and offers both aesthetic quality and maximum functionality for greater energy efficiency. The Nordic Facade Forum, organized by Jorma Vitkala, is an ideal opportunity for architects, engineers, designers, and construction professionals to deepen their expertise, exchange ideas, and learn about current trends in the industry.

Experts from H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling will be available to visitors during both events to provide information about the company's wide range of applications and innovative technologies and to answer questions.
