The London skyscraper 8 Bishopsgate combines a striking tiered design with high-tech sustainability features – from active facades with intelligent glass to energy reuse systems. Its use of AGC Interpane glazing and cradle-to-cradle materials helps it earn top environmental certifications.
Effective as of 1 January 2025, AGC Interpane (a 100% affiliate of AGC Glass Europe) expands its activities through the acquisition of one of Europe´s largest manufacturers of safety glass, Sicherheitsglastechnik Oelsnitz GmbH (SGT), as well as the Verwaltungsgesellschaft Schuler & Weiß OHG and its subsidiary SG Transport GmbH in Germany.
This is a strong signal in the midst of the weak construction industry: AGC Interpane is investing across the Group in automation and new plant technology as well as in digitalisation and sustainable power generation. Since January 2024, TMP Fenster + Türen GmbH has been taking another important step towards improving its carbon footprint. By using a new CO2-reduced ‘Float Glass - Low-Carbon Glass (LC)’ from AGC Interpane, the window manufacturer is setting a new benchmark for sustainable construction. The AGC Interpane plant in Plattling, southern Germany, produces high-quality semi-finished glass products and insulating glass. The basis is coated glass up to 18 m x 3.21 m. These extra-long glass elements can be provided with various solar control layers or with iplus thermal insulation layers. With the latest IG line from Glaston, even XXL formats can be produced automatically.
