Jumbo XXL IGU line for AGC Interpane in Bavaria

290 employees work at the AGC Interpane site in Plattling and cover almost the entire glass processing chain - from glass cutting, finishing and coating to insulating glass production.

The plant specialises in processing logistically complex insulating glass orders in fixed sizes. The magnetron sputtering system, a physical vapour deposition process for the production of thin coatings, sets the company apart from the competition. The system enables AGC Interpane to offer high-quality facade glass from a single source.

The Glaston Jumbo XXL Flex IG line was customised for AGC Interpane and enables the automatic production of jumbo formats up to 3.30 x 6.00 m.

AGC Interpane is a long-standing customer of Glaston and the former brands that are now part of the Glaston family. The company currently has three Glaston insulating glass production lines and one Glaston toughening line.

What the new IG line from Glaston can do

The latest addition to the Plattling plant, the Glaston Jumbo XXL Flex insulating glass line, was customised for AGC Interpane and enables AGC Interpane to produce jumbo formats of up to 3.30 x 6.00 m automatically. Previously, these could only be produced semi-automatically or with additional manual labour.

The line consists of standard components for edge deletion, glass cleaning and glass inspection as well as a number of machines with specially developed functions.

Until the Glaston Jumbo XXL insulating glass line was commissioned, AGC Interpane was somewhat limited in terms of production technology.

This was specifically the case in the area required for the manual installation of these special facade elements, the overall thickness of the insulating glass sealant, the maximum weight that could be processed and the bottom edge of the step. The Glaston Jumbo XXL has eliminated all of these limitations and now enables automatic production, even for facade glass in XXL formats.

"With the Glaston solution, AGC Interpane has a unique constellation in the field of spacers. We are the only ones in the world with this configuration. The Unit'Assembler enables us to process special moulds and automatically fill them with gas," says Daniel Bruckelt.

"At the end of the line, the Speed'Sealer has eliminated any bottlenecks. This means that it is now possible to automatically produce large insulating glass units weighing up to 600 kg/m," he continues.
