Heavydrive installs 5400-kilo facade elements at the new Tesla Gigafactory

At the new Tesla Gigafactory, a total of 110 facade elements weighing up to 5400 kg with a width of 2.8 m and a height of 9.7 m were placed in the facade with the LSG 6000 K MH suction unit. The unit has a load capacity of 6000 kg. For the smaller glass panes with a width of 2.8 m and a height of up to 5.1 m and a weight of 2800 kg, the Heavydrive system LSG 3000 K MH was used.

The oversized facade elements were manufactured by the New York glass company W&W Glass LLC.

In order to keep the construction project on schedule, the facade company ordered a LSG 6000 K MH and a LSG 3000 K MH for purchase, as well as an additional system for rent. This meant that the glass panes could be set by several assembly teams at the same time.

What did Heavydrive do for the project?

The Heavydrive experts took care of the safe transport of the equipment as well as the necessary customs and freight documents. In July 2021, the Heavydrive equipment started its journey to Austin in a container by sea freight. Heavydrive staff monitored the transport via real-time tracking.
