Glas Herzog

Why is this German IGU company so happy with Glaston’s Speed Box?

Glas Herzog, based in Waghäusel (near Heidelberg), has been family-owned since it was founded some 75 years ago and supplies customers in Germany and neighbouring countries with high-quality glass products. Over the years, the company has developed from a purely handicraft business into a flat glass company that today employs more than 75 people.

With regard to the new acquisition of the latest insulating glass line, Andreas Herzog sen. says: "Our cooperation with the former Bystronic glass and now Glaston is exactly as one would wish as a customer. In fact, we are one of the oldest customers with a collaboration of over 44 years."

In 1978, Glas Herzog bought its first insulating glass line from Lenhardt (now Glaston) and is one of the oldest customers of the supplier's insulating glass division.

Automation with the Speed Box

The latest insulating glass line to be installed in production last year was a new Glaston Speed Box. This was configured individually for the insulating glass manufacturer and is set up for conventional spacers.

The new Glaston system has been running smoothly since its installation - alongside the two other Bystronic glass insulating glass lines, which run fully automatically. This enables Glas Herzog to produce more than 1000 insulating glass units per day.

What makes the new ISO line so fast?

A special feature of the Glaston Speed Box is its high degree of automation. By combining three components, Spacer'Filler AT (automatic desiccant filling station), Spacer'Butylapplicator (butyl coating robot) and Frame'Positioner (automatic frame setting station), frame processing is almost completely automated on the Speed Box.

Thomas Herzog explains: "Without any manual intervention, prefabricated spacer frames are automatically filled with drying agent, precisely coated with butyl and then automatically positioned on the glass.

Smooth installation and commissioning

With professional project management, from planning to delivery to installation, the commissioning of the Link Speed Box insulating glass line then also took place quite smoothly. Andreas Herzog jr.: "We also had comprehensive training from Glaston's staff - something that rarely happens nowadays."

"Whenever Glaston sends us their potential customers for a reference visit," Herzog Sr. says, "we give them our recommendations. In addition, we know that Glaston is close enough when we need a quick support. In 44 years of working together, our partnership has developed into a valuable friendship - one that is unique today. We are proud to be a customer from the very beginning and look forward to many more years together," emphasises Andreas Herzog Sr.
