Kuka robot supplies machining centre for Schüco

Schüco RX Load 500 offers a self-sufficient loading and unloading unit, fully automatic cutting and controlled processing of profiles. To achieve this, the robot is located behind the AF 500 five-axis CNC machine and moves on its own linear axis at a maximum speed of 200 m/min. In front of the machine is a movable rack as storage for profiles and finished parts with space for up to 24 profile bars. The SchüCAM control software is used to generate a loading list for the rack in advance, which specifies which profile is to be placed in which compartment by the employees. With its gripper, which can carry loads of up to 36 kilograms, the robot removes the profiles from the shelf and loads the machine.

Retrofitting an existing CNC system is possible

After automatic cutting and processing by the machining centre, the cut profiles are unloaded and sorted into the shelf. The robot has the advantage of requiring a minimum of space and it can also be retrofitted to an existing CNC machine if the machine's control system already has the necessary module for the robot cell.

An additional, space-saving safety fence ensures hazard-free automatic operation. Switching between manual and automatic operation is possible at any time.

Strenuous physical work is done by the robot

With RX LOAD 500, Schüco is responding to demographic change with an increasingly ageing workforce and the shortage of skilled workers in the metal construction industry. The robot cell eliminates physically demanding and time-consuming functions that would otherwise fall to employees. The unit thus offers relief while at the same time optimising and accelerating the production process. Delays in production can also be compensated for and the entire processes harmonised. The freed-up capacities of skilled workers can be used for complex, quality-assuring tasks such as assembly.
