The Advanced Building Skins Conference is one of Europe's leading events for building envelopes, combining high-quality presentations with productive networking in the construction industry.
This time, the focus will be on innovative materials, adaptive facade systems, integrated photovoltaics, and energy-efficient design—topics that are increasingly becoming part of everyday architectural practice.
James Timberlake as keynote speaker
The keynote speaker at this year's Advanced Building Skins Conference will be James Timberlake from KieranTimberlake in Philadelphia, US. The architectural firm KieranTimberlake has been experimenting and developing active and passive facades and conducting materials research for over three decades.

In his presentation, Timberlake will explain how we can further develop architecture and engineering while balancing economics and ecology.
This is what the facade of the future looks like
Facades have historically evolved from purely aesthetic and passive elements to active, energy-efficient systems that increasingly integrate advanced technologies such as photovoltaics, dynamic shading, and smart materials.
According to Timberlake, the building envelope of the future will fulfill several functions: it will be thinner, more energy-efficient, and more adaptable, evolving into an integrated system for energy generation, temperature control, and information processing.
The challenge will be to scale these innovations and integrate new technologies into existing structures in a practical and economical way.
Another highlight of this year's conference will be the presentation of the Burj Azizi in Dubai. At 725 meters high, the tower will be the second tallest building in the world when it is completed in 2028.
Architects and engineers from Dubai and London will highlight the structural challenges, wind analyses, and engineering solutions in a session at the conference.
Other focus topics of the conference
· Adaptive building envelopes
· Innovative products and technologies for building envelopes
· Design and planning of photovoltaic facades
· Building envelope design for optimized daylight utilization
The presentations will be held in English. If you have any questions, please contact info@abs.green.
