Dynamic liquid crystal glass for building refurbishment in Switzerland

Built in 1980, the property is currently being transformed into a modern office building with around 15,000 square metres of floor space in line with the circular economy. The renovation includes dismantling the facade, the roof and the entire building services, in order to bring the building to the latest environmental standards and the requirements for "green" certifications. These include the use of low-carbon district heating, photovoltaics and dynamic liquid crystal solar control glass from eyrise for the new element facade.

Completion of the work is scheduled for early 2024, with Google already confirmed as the tenant afterwards. The building will then be certified according to both the Swiss Minergie standard for reduced CO2 emissions and the SNBS sustainability label (Standard Nachhaltiges Bauen Schweiz).

High reliability with low maintenance and power consumption

The features of eyrise dynamic liquid crystal glass includes immediate response when switching and colour neutrality to create the best possible natural lighting conditions without glare. With high reliability, maintenance and power consumption are low. Energy consumption for air conditioning and lighting is actually reduced compared to conventional glazing.

The dynamic eyrise liquid crystal glass is certified by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and bears the CE seal. They are manufactured entirely in Europe and the production facility in Veldhoven uses sustainable energy, allowing both a shortened supply chain for customers in the same geographical region and a reduced environmental footprint in materials.
