Pilkington introduces the new Botanical glass range

NSG Group has launched a range of glass products aimed specifically at the greenhouse market. The new Pilkington Botanical range includes glass solutions to enhance plant growth or solve challenges faced by horticultural businesses. The range is based on the proven properties of Pilkington Optifloat and Pilkington Optiwhite glasses and durable glass coatings.

In order to assess and optimise lighting conditions in advance of the design stage, it is important to consider both direct light and light at different angles of incidence. NSG Group's new offering focuses on ensuring high transmission (a more accurate measure of photosynthetically active light entering through the glass) across all products in the new Pilkington Botanical range.

Pilkington Botanical offers adapted glass solutions for greenhouses, conservatories and glass extensions. The wide range of special glasses is designed to protect, enhance and support plant growth. At the same time, glasses from the Pilkington Botanical range allow tempering, bending and laminating.

What glass is used in Pilkington Botanical?

Pilkington Optifloat Clear has a light transmission of 91 per cent, but this can be further increased if clients choose Pilkington Optiwhite low-iron glass or use the Pilkington HortiGrow range, which uses permanent anti-reflective coatings on one or both sides of the glass to increase light transmission up to 99 per cent.

Additional features such as light diffusion and coatings that ensure the glass stays clean longer between costly cleaning cycles can also be added. The coatings and finishes of Pilkington Botanical glass can be fine-tuned according to specific requirements, according to the developers at NSG. The variety of plants and crops used in greenhouse cultivation and the different climatic conditions mean that there is no one solution that fits all requirements.

Whatever the requirements, the NSG Group offers gardeners, growers and planners to contact the glass group's consultants for specific help and support with individual projects and their planning.
