GLASS + MICROSHADE FILM = SUN SHADING FOR GLASS FACADES

How MicroShade revolutionises solar shading

The new product, the MicroShade Film, is a passive micro-structure film that - when placed in a glazed building element or facade pane - almost completely blocks the sun's energy, allowing natural daylight into the building. At the same time, the 0.2 mm thick film in itself is hardly noticeable.

Glass panes with the MicroShade film can also be processed into triple insulating glass.

Furthermore, the microstructure film is not subject to any restrictions in terms of shape or size of the glazing, according to the developers. This in turn gives architects and planners a great deal of creative freedom when it comes to design choices.

The maximum available format of the film (without joints) is 1500 x 2450 mm. In addition, it is possible to link several films, so that there is no limit to the size or shape of the film, which can thus be adapted to the glass format (and shape) as required. The film is around 0.2 mm thick.

"Today, building design is very much focused on a good indoor climate and the well-being of the occupants - and our new product can bring about significant improvements here," says Eik Bezzel, CEO of MicroShade. "Other solar shading systems may offer protection from the sun or plenty of daylight , but not both at the same time and with a permanent view to the outside, like our MicroShade Film." The new MicroShade Film is expected to be available starting in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to the supplier.

Where else can MicroShade Film be used?

The new solution works on both facades and roofs, keeping out the heat of the sun while allowing natural daylight into the building. "Our solution is passive and requires no maintenance as it is installed inside the glazing. Combined with its other features, we believe this new product will certainly redefine solar shading,” concludes Eik Bezzel.

MicroShade's solar shading solution, which already meets all of these parameters, can be found in many buildings in Northern and Central Europe - and even in Australia.

While expanding sales and strategic partnerships, the company has been working on further innovations and has now presented the result to the market.
