HD Wahl: Great colours for a special facade

The remarkable design of the facades is based on the combination of light brick, concrete, glass and horizontal, metallic facade slats in various shades of red. The red highlights give the building fresh accents.

When designing the facades, the architects worked according to a layering principle: "The layering of the materials strengthens the horizontal proportions. The band-like windows allow views into the building's interior and make it something to be experienced from the outside. Finally, the upper ceiling panels seem to hover above everything: Horizontal metal slats of varying widths, at varying intervals and in different colours create a dynamic, "sporty" look.

Shades of red are usually vulnerable

The facade slats have been coated with the premium Duraflon finish from HD Wahl, the specialist for the enhancement of metal components in facades. Four shades of red were individually selected by the architects in terms of nuance, gloss and feel.

The facade is not only covered in a variety of shades of red, but also vary in how sparkly they are.

The appearance, once selected, remains stable for decades with the Duraflon fluoropolymer wet paint system. This is a distinctive feature, especially with shades of red - because with conventional coating systems, the "red" colour spectrum is the one most vulnerable to chalking and fading after only a short time.

By comparison, components coated with Duraflon are resistant to UV radiation and other difficult environmental conditions. Dirt can also be easily removed from the robust, virtually maintenance-free surface.
