Sun shading industry spotlights sustainable sun shading

At the same time, mandatory, legal standards for sun shading in the building industry are demanded in order to slow down the inevitable climate change.

ES-SO, the European umbrella organisation of the sun shading industry, also backs this up with facts and figures that speak for themselves: A scientific study by theGuidehouse1 institute proves that sun shading on buildings could reduce CO2 emissions by up to 100 million tonnes.

Discovering the many benefits of sun shading

At the same time, potential savings of up to 285 billion euros could be mobilised by 2050, as the energy used for cooling buildings could be reduced by up to 60 per cent.

Therefore, ES-SO calls for mandatory standards for sun shading on buildings within the EU's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. Global Shading Day aims to provide the impetus to actively discover the many benefits of sun shading with industry professionals.

A week of events all over Europe

National industry associations, solar shading manufacturers and retailers across Europe will organise events and activities during the week of 21 March 2023.
