Velux:

More daylight, higher insulation values and an attractive design

With the new systems from Velux, up to 52% more daylight incidence is possible thanks to slimmer frame profiles, as the developers emphasise. The basic elements have been redesigned. It is now possible to choose between double and triple glazing.

The energy efficiency has been optimised once again thanks to the thermal bridge-free overall construction according to Velux ThermoTechnology. In addition, matching heat, sun and insect protection is available for all variants. And insulation elements integrated into the skylight base ensure very good thermal insulation, according to Velux.

Another positive for the technicians: they do not have to make adjustments when installing the new generation, as this is done using the familiar installation steps.

The design of the revised basic element allows for very slim frame profiles that are stable, heat-resistant and durable.

What details have been added to the Velux basic element?

The construction of the base element made of a seamless wood core encased in plastic (polyurethane) allows for very slim frame profiles that are at the same time exceptionally stable, heat-resistant and durable.

The completely rimless upper elements are equipped with safety glass and a high-performance seal. The flat-glass model in particular benefits from the new design without slats at the edge and the improved function. It is suitable for installation on roofs with a pitch of 2 to 15 degrees, while the convex-glass variant can be used on a pitch of 0 to 15 degrees.

As of now, it is possible to choose triple insulating glass with tempered safety glass for increased noise reduction and improved energy balance in addition to double insulating glass. The systems are tested for fall-through resistance and increased burglary protection (RC2 according to DIN EN 1627).

The very slim frame with integrated motor components ensures the greatest possible daylight incidence and unrestricted view. Compared to the previous generation, up to 52 % more light per area is possible with an element size of 60 x 60 cm (without sunshade).

What other features does Velux offer?

Suitable heat, sun and insect protection is available for all sizes and variants of flat roof windows. The sun protection blends in very harmoniously with the construction of the windows. The awning or roller blind lies between the upper element and the insulating glass pane integrated horizontally in the skylight base.

The familiar installation steps remain as before.

The convex glass version is suitable for installation on roofs with a pitch of 0 to 15 degrees, while the upper element with flat glass can be used with a pitch of 2 to 15 degrees.

The finish of the interior cladding is easy to implement thanks to the existing groove for accommodating the interior vapour barrier apron BBX and the interior lining. The assembly is carried out from the roof and is therefore best done immediately during installation.

Is there also a smart control system?

Yes. A pre-programmed radio wall switch is included in the scope of delivery to operate the electrically operated Integra flat roof windows and sun shading products. In addition, the control can be carried out via the Velux Active with Netatmo smart home system, which is available as an accessory.

Then opening and closing is via app or voice control. Alternatively, the system takes over the creation of a pleasant room climate automatically on the basis of room sensor data on CO2, humidity and temperature.
