Back in black: Swisspacer Ultimate | Nyxé

“With Swisspacer Ultimate | Nyxé, we are demonstrating how functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability can be combined in a single component,” says Matthias Bach, CEO. "At the same time, the new product joins Saint-Gobain's range of sustainable solutions, such as ORAÉ glass. In the future, we will develop a joint environmental product declaration for Swisspacer Ultimate | Nyxé and ORAÉ to make all relevant data even more easily accessible to architects and planners."

Background: According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the construction industry is responsible for 37 to 39% of global CO₂ emissions. This is a frequently cited figure, but it also proves that every single component has a noticeable impact on the overall carbon footprint of buildings.

The new spacer combines elegant design with a recycled content of 33% – and proven Swisspacer Ultimate performance.

This awareness is also driving Swisspacer: “The growing demand for more sustainable products is a clear driver of innovation for us,” explains Marie Guin, Head of R&D at Swisspacer. “It was therefore only logical to integrate recycled material into the production of our spacers.

Achieving a recycling content of 33% without compromising on performance was a challenge. We are proud that we have succeeded in achieving the same performance as with our premium spacer.”

Elegant black design

With its deep black film, Swisspacer Ultimate | Nyxé supports a design approach in modern architecture: clear, dark lines as a contrast in modern window and facade designs.

Processors, window and facade builders can rely on the usual high level of reliability, benefit from the elegant appearance and at the same time make a clear statement in terms of sustainability.

Recycling service supports resource conservation

Swisspacer laid an important foundation for its circular economy strategy in the summer with its Re:cycling service. Thanks to targeted investments in development work, it enables customers to return scrap material in an uncomplicated manner – seamlessly integrated into existing logistics processes.

This reduces the carbon footprint on the customer side, saves disposal costs, and conserves valuable resources.

Reliable data from Swisspacer

Swisspacer regularly publishes environmental product declarations (EPDs) in accordance with IGU 14025 and EN 15804, as well as FDES (Fiches de Déclaration Environnementale et Sanitaire) in accordance with French standards. These provide verified data on CO₂ emissions and are a building block for DGNB, LEED, or BREEAM certifications.

The life cycle assessment (LCA) of Swisspacer Ultimate | Nyxé already shows that it is expected to achieve a reduction in CO₂ footprint of around 20% compared to Swisspacer Ultimate. External verification for the publication of the EPD is currently in progress.
