Flachglas Switzerland: Quality is a key to success

Following this positive experience, Flachglas Switzerland purchased further scanners. “After we achieved such satisfactory results with the first Quality Scanner, Viprotron installed two more Quality Scanners behind our washing facility at the production line,” said Rolf Kiener of Flachglas. He has been managing such inspection projects all these years as responsible plant manager and still does so today as the manager in charge of machine purchasing. He is convinced that a reliable quality control of high-quality insulating glass can only be carried out with the help of Viprotron Quality Scanners.

New project: final inspection of the insulating glass

Flachglas has already gone one step further by ordering a Quality Checker for the final inspection of entire IG units. Installed after the press for the Jumbo line of insulating glass, a final quality control will be realized at the end of the entire process. In addition to the detection of optical defects in the glass surface, the finished product is inspected for spacer positioning, the straightness of the mounting bar and lumps in the butyl before the insulating glass is dispatched.

Furthermore, a complete quality protocol can be supplied together with the IGU, which includes the quality information from the final Quality Checker inspection, but also contains the associated inspection results for each individual glass, generated by the Quality Scanner after the washing facility.

Already in 2005, Flachglas Switzerland invested in its first camera-based Quality Scanner from Viprotron.

In the future, this will not only ensure quality by the time of dispatch of the product, but that product quality will be automatically and fully documented in detailed quality reports.
