Fantastic glass pavilion for the Brancusi Museum

Building art protects art, this is how one could describe the glass pavilion with glass panes from sedak. This new glass structure serves to expand the Brancusi Museum in Craiova, Romania. The city thereby honours one of its most famous artists, the sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, whereby the new building visually represents the entrance of the new "Constantin Brâncuși International Art Centre" (Brancusi Museum) in the art museum.

The all-glass building moves between architecture and sculpture, like an optical illusion of various forms typical of the work of artist Brâncuși, a glass cube in which an oval volume shines and shimmers. Thus, the construction-artwork becomes a reference for a project that Brâncuși was no longer able to realise: the temple of Indore.

12-metre safety glass from sedak

The safety glass panes, 12 x 3 metres in size, that enclose the glass building with its square ground plan are impressive. Inside, horizontally arranged glass louvres create the egg-shaped space that suggests the sculpture "Măiastra" as a silhouette, a sculpture in the spirit of Brâncuși's work.

[New world record for XXL glass]

Here, a very special spatial experience awaits the visitor: from the basement, a glass lift - with only a single person - travels to the centre of the pavilion. This person can now immerse him- or herself in Brâncuși's world in the few seconds of the ascent and experience what the artist wanted to convey through his work: sublimity, peace and light of spirit.
