For a number of years, Lattuada has invested heavily in the automation of grinding processes to achieve higher productivity and reduce operator workload. Working closely with robotics specialist Knittel, new automation solutions have been developed and installed with impressive results.
This includes fully automated sanding lines with 1, 2 or 3 robots (often in combination with a washing machine). To ensure that these work perfectly, new applications have been developed by Lattuada, e.g. automatic adjustment of spindle settings in case of wheel wear, which further increases the productivity of such lines.
In addition, Lattuada and Knittel have developed a completely new machine combination with robot. This is a combination of a grinding machine (+ a washing machine) with a robot. This robot moves on a so-called 7th axis in front of the grinding machine and takes care of the automatic loading and unloading of the glasses.
At Vitrum, Lattuada and Knittel will present a complete robot line at the stand. In addition, a number of other edge grinding machines will be on display for testing.
