Each level of the house was equipped with an individual solution tailored precisely to its specific use. An existing folding arm awning was used for a large dormer window, with only the awning fabric being replaced.
One floor below, a pergola system with two panels and integrated shade plus function provides reliable glare protection on the balcony. The spacious southeast terrace was fitted with the pergola stretch, a large, permanently installed shading system that also ensures a pleasantly protected outdoor environment. In the garden area, the pergola classic model was chosen, which was permanently mounted on the freestanding markilux syncra support system. In combination with the natural shade of a large tree, this created a comfortable seating area with a direct view of the Alster, a retreat that offers a pleasant climate even on hot summer days.
The client paid particular attention to the visual integration of the awnings into the overall architectural design of the villa. To ensure a harmonious design, the frames of the awnings were powder-coated in a special black RAL color to match the window profiles of the house. The choice of neutral white fabrics emphasizes the calm, elegant facade design and creates a harmonious overall appearance. In addition to the architectural requirements, living comfort was also a key consideration. The comprehensive shading concept effectively protects large window areas from overheating while creating flowing transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The system opens up new possibilities for use, especially in the summer months: The balcony, terrace, and sheltered outdoor seating area by the water become comfortable outdoor living spaces that can be enjoyed whatever the weather.
The project in Hamburg is a prime example of how modern awning systems today offer much more than classic sun shading. With the right solution, energy efficiency, design quality, and comfort can all be enhanced to a high level, both functionally and aesthetically.
